    1/6 plate (2"3/4 x 3"1/4) Antebellum Era to Civil War Era Tintype (Mat corners folded to back of tintype corners for securing; common way of securing during the 2 eras).  I didn't see any  early tintype plate markings, surface looks early most likely photograph wat taken just prior to the Civil War.
    The surface is dull with fine crazing within the thick stable surface, protected with cover glass.   A few short creases, the 2nd auction photo you can make them out.
    NO CASE.
