Description
Perhaps you recall more photos from the Eighth Iowa Volunteer Infantry sold here last year. Original owner located some more from the collection of soldier named Harper, who served with the Eighth. This is the last one of his collection. Appears the soldier wrote on the reverse himself: Compliments J P Dawson Co C 8th Iowa. There is another line of writing that is too faded to make out and below that line the original owner's name C Harper. Dawson, like so many others in the 8th, was captured at Shiloh and re-mustered in 1864. He was promoted twice reaching 1st Corporal in March of 1865. Severely wounded in his leg he was discharged at Davenport IA in June of 65. CDV photograph is in nice shape, some light wear, no serious problems. All ebay payment methods accepted. Please complete transaction within four days, if you need longer no problem but please contact me about that. Will combine shipping whenever possible.
