There are many different opinions on
the safety of metal jewelry for dolls.
This jewelry is made or accented with gold-plated or
silver-plated wire alloys. Earrings are
coated with a sealer.
For
extra safety, ear guards can be included for earrings.
BE ADVISED:
NO metal jewelry, even solid, 14k or gold filled ones,
can guarantee no green ear will occur after an extended
length of time.
ALL gold has some trace of base metals.
The good news is that you can use most any plated earrings if you store
or display your doll in the
right conditions, such as low humidity or AC.
Extended periods of wear (more than several weeks)
are NOT advised.
But to extend the life of earrings, an extra layer of
sealer
(like clear nail polish)
can be re-applied a time or two
and dried overnight before inserting again.
It is then recommended to replace with fresh, new earrings.
