Description
This is a very rare 1916 Brown Brothers Ltd. Motor Catalogue, listing and advertising anything and everything available at that time relating to automobiles and motorcycles, including accessories, parts, tools, tyres (tires!), motorist clothing, spark plugs, lanterns, horns, magnetos, motorcycle sidecars, saddles, and every imaginable minute item a parts shop would have, plus all sorts of larger shop tools such and lathes, drills, vulcanizers, jacks, milling machines, and so on and on... 568 pages of incredible woodcuts of all these things, with wonderful ads in the back. All divided into sections with thumb markers along the edge for quick access to each section. This is a particularly rare year for these catalogs as it was in the middle of the war and Britain was in the midst of a national ration on a lot of this stuff, and so many young men were away fighting... they didn't make many of this catalog; the pre and post war editions are much more common. Anyhow this copy is a little worn, with a torn off spine (see photo), but still beautifully intact, with remarkably clean pages throughout. The binding is strong but there are a few slightly weak spots, and maybe one or two loose pages toward the end. There is wear but this is a really nice copy for the clean content. These catalogues were used to death at repair shops and are rarely in solid shape, if they survive at all. This is really a remarkable copy.
